OUR SPANISH SCHOOL IN SOSUA
This Spanish language school in Sosua is located the district of El Batey, within a stone’s throw of the city center and the beach. The school building is surrounded by lush vegetation and offers the ideal ambience for learning Spanish in a tropical surrounding. The classroom decoration is Caribbean style, and many Spanish classes take place on one of the four terraces outside. There are sun-chairs in the garden, table-tennis, and games. There is a lively atmosphere, as this is one of the largest institutions for Spanish classes in the area. You can choose to take a Spanish group course if you like more interaction with other students, or you may choose an individual course for more personal attention. In Sosua, you can choose between private or shared apartments and studios. Studios have private bathrooms and are located just 5 minutes walking distance from the beach and the city center. Accommodation in the shared apartments and the studios include the use of a kitchen. Moreover, breakfast is included in both accommodations, as well as bed sheets and towels. The private apartment comes with two options: standard or luxurious. The standard apartment in Sosua is located in the city center, whereas the luxurious private apartment is located on the beach.
Thanks to their ideal location, Sosua (and Cabarete) offer you a wide range of things to do. Sosua is the perfect place for snorkelling, and scuba diving and many students spend many hours on the beach. There are other fun activities in the school and in the city centre too. The school organises a welcome dinner for all new students as well as barbeques in the school´s garden, pool parties, Dominican cooking classes, bachata and merengue dance classes, and much more. Join the walking tour into the historical traces of Sosue, visit the art museum and the Brugal Rum Factory or go to the only cable car in the Caribbean.
Sosua is a small coastal town situated on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is known for its beautiful beaches with crystal clear water and perfect conditions for scuba diving and exploring the coral reefs. Nearby beach town Cabarete is one of the best wind and kite-surfing hotspots of the world, a true (kite) surfers’ paradise. The volunteering projects in Sosua are active in community development and animal rescue. You can work as a volunteer with children at a school in a town nearby Sosua. Tasks include teaching, playing with the children, working in the garden and help to improve the infrastructure (painting, etc.). The animal project takes care of stray dogs and cats. Activities include working with the animals, accompanying local families in the outreach program, logistic support (answering questions about adoption, maintaining the website, helping with social media, organizing fundraising events), and more. Especially vets and vet students are welcome.

Sosua is the ideal place for scuba diving and snorkelling adventures. You´ll have the opportunity to discover the beautiful coral and ocean wildlife in this part of the Dominican Republic. In nearby Cabarete, you will find the best wind and kite-surfing conditions.
Other options besides water sports, are the popular excursions to Puerto Plata and Santiago, where you can visit a rum or cigar factory. You can also go to the nature park called El Choco, visit the marvellous beaches of Playa Grande including a boat trip. A nice tour is to the enchanting beaches of Las Terrenas on the peninsula of Samana. If you would like to see the countryside, visit Jarabocoa, the so-called “Dominican Alps”. Other options are jeep tours, hiking, horseback riding and more.
