Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead is a two-day holiday that occurs November 1st and 2nd. It is celebrated across Latin America but originated in Mexico. Therefore it is most strongly associated in the Mexican culture. For many Latinos this sacred time is when the borders between the spiritual and the real world disappear, bringing together the two communities for a short period to enjoy each other’s company. There is so much to do in Cusco that you will never be bored while studying Spanish in Peru. What to do in Cusco after your Spanish classes? Here are a few recommendations:

  • Koricancha, also known as the sun temple, is an incredible museum. It showcases many aspects of Incan history. It is open Monday through Saturday 8:30am to 5:30pm. On Sunday, it is open 12 – 5pm. They charge 15 soles, however if you are a college student and bring your university student I.D. you can get a discount.
