Spanish School in Valle Sagrado, PERU

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION

School Description Are you looking for a relaxed place to study Spanish that is outside of the busy city? If so, we have an excellent school for you that is only a one and a half hour drive from the Inca city Cusco. Here you can combine Spanish classes in the Sacred Valley of the Incas with the amazing surroundings this area has to offer. The school is situated near the village of Urubamba. From your room, you will have a marvellous view of the Andes Mountains and you will be able to hear the babbling brook. The people in this area live in a more traditional way than in Cusco, which gives you the chance to learn more about the history of Peru and the Inca culture.

SPANISH PROGRAM IN THE SACRED VALLEY

School Description The teaching methods at this school are communicative, personal and interactive. The teachers are very committed to the Spanish classes and the students. Coming from the partner school in Cusco, the teachers will stay with the students for the whole week and will accompany the students on the excursions. The teachers and students will stay in the same residence, which will give students more time to improve their Spanish level. The group lessons consist of a small group of no more than 8 people. You will have classes in the morning or in the afternoon, 4 hours each day.

ACCOMMODATION IN THE SACRED VALLEY

Accommodation The school is situated close to the village of Urubamba, surrounded by beautiful nature in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The accommodation in the Sacred Valley is in the same location as the school. The rooms are very comfortable and spacious, and they have modern bathrooms. The accommodation in the Sacred Valley also offers places for studying or relaxing. Peruvian food will be provided at the school from Monday through Friday, three traditional Peruvian meals a day. There is also a vegetarian option available. The Sunday of arrival the students will go out for dinner.

ACTIVITIES DURING YOUR SPANISH PROGRAM

Pisaq and the Sacred Valley As the school is situated in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, there are lots of opportunities to explore this area. The activities are included in the program and will take place in the afternoon. Below are some of the activities:

  • Visit to the Salt mines in Maras.
  • Hike in the mountains around Urubamba.
  • Visit to the old Inca village Ollantaytambo.
  • Cooking class: taste test the Peruvian food and learn how to cook traditional Peruvian dishes.
  • A walking tour of the village of Urubamba on the day of arrival.

Additional activities may be a traditional Andean ceremony with an Inca shaman and lectures about the Inca culture.

SACRED VALLEY IN PERU

Pisaq and the Sacred Valley Peru is a country in the northwest of the South American continent. Its capital is Lima. The country has a lot to offer: an ancient Inca culture, a beautifully diverse nature (coast, mountains and jungle) and food, for example. In Peru they speak Spanish, Quechua (Inca language), and many other indigenous languages.

Urubamba is a village in the Sacred Valley of the Incas and is located an hour and a half outside of Cusco. Urubamba is at a lower altitude, which makes it easier to breathe and provides a warmer climate. The Sacred Valley boasts fresh air and a relaxing atmosphere, making it the perfect place to study Spanish.

EXCURSIONS IN THE SACRED VALLEY

Pisaq and the Sacred Valley Besides the Spanish classes and activities that are included in the program, you will have time to do excursions in the Sacred Valley. Popular places to visit are the market and ruins in Pisac, as well as the ruins in Chincheros. Or, if you are more adventurous, there is also the option to go mountain biking or horseback riding in the beautiful scenery. Special programs are also available, such as the Sacred Valley Plus Package. This includes excursions, lectures and cultural activities that are not included in the standard Sacred Valley program. Other programs are ‘Spanish and Spiritualism’ and ‘Spanish and Yoga’. Please ask for more information.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IN THE SACRED VALLEY

Participating in the volunteer program in the Sacred Valley may enrich your stay in Peru. You will be able to offer help to the local people in exchange for the opportunity to learn more about the Peruvian culture and to improve your level of the Spanish language.
