Spanish School in Antigua, GUATEMALA

SCHOOL DESCRIPTION

Every year Guatemala welcomes over 5,000 students who come to study Spanish, many of whom study at this school. The family-like atmosphere within the school makes studying in Guatemala fun and memorable. The teachers are professional and highly experienced in the world of education; they make their classes interesting and interactive. The courses are personally tailored to students and gives them the opportunity to study the Spanish language in a comfortable, tropical environment.

SPANISH PROGRAM IN ANTIGUA

Spanish Program No matter the duration of your Spanish course, you will be continually challenged by our teaching staff to improve your Spanish skills. The program at this school is not only fun and dynamic, but it will also better your language abilities at a fast pace. Specifically, the school offers a 100% immersion program that is an individual course taking place from 08:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 16:00. This immersion course still allows enough time to explore Guatemala´s hotspots and incredible beaches.

Classes emphasize conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, translation and the culture of Guatemala and Central America.

There is a special two week Spanish program for tourists who want to travel through Latin America and explore the language and culture. After this course, students are experts on the Latin American culture.

ACCOMMODATION IN ANTIGUA

Accommodation For a firsthand look into the Guatemala culture and lifestyle, we recommend staying with one of our home stay families. Students will live with a family in Guatemala, carefully selected for their hospitality and enthusiasm. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be prepared by the family, except on Sundays meals are not included. The student will have a private room, and the other facilities are shared.

You can also choose to stay in a guesthouse in Antigua. This provides a more independent housing situation, while being surrounded by other students from all over the world. We have a minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 14 students in the house. The guesthouses are within walking distance of the school. Students will have their own private room and a shared bathroom. Meals can be included if the student so desires.

ACTIVITIES DURING YOUR SPANISH PROGRAM

Activities After classes, there are a variety of activities arranged for the students. Some activities are free, and others require a small fee. Activities include dance lessons, movie nights, extra grammar classes, social projects, local religious activities and other social and cultural events.

Santa Catalina, Antigua You will find three main regions in Guatemala: Petén, the tropical jungle in the north; the highlands, a highly populated area with lower temperatures; and the other tropical region along the Caribbean and Pacific coast. In other words, Guatemala is a diverse country that offers many opportunities for exploration as you take your Spanish classes.

Antigua has a moderate climate and is surrounded by three stunning volcanoes. You will find churches that date back more than 500 years ago, with a typical Spanish Colonial architecture. The town is known as a safe place to visit with warm and welcoming people, which makes studying and traveling here stress-free and enjoyable.

EXCURSIONS IN ANTIGUA

Excursions There are multiple excursions available for the students´ enjoyment. These excursions include visits to the old coffee plantations or nut plantations, visits to impressive volcanoes, horseback riding among amazing scenery and watching traditional weaving demonstrations or Mayan ceremonies.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM IN ANTIGUA

Volunteer Program

Students can participate in social volunteer projects in Guatemala and gain an unforgettable experience as they pair volunteering with Spanish Courses in Antigua. Students have the opportunity to volunteer in local orphanages, hospitals, a Senior´s home, local schools and other community projects.
